Hi,

I've bought a Racer S recently and would like to use the World Tour software, but wanted to try the demo before risking the money. I am following the instructions on page:

The first thing I don't understand is that the instructions specify a USB A/B cable, but I can only see one USB port on the console and it's a type 'A'. Obviously, my PC uses type 'A' ports so I have bought a USB A/A.

This is a Vista 32 bit laptop so I have used CP210xVCPInstaller_x86.exe.
I installed the demo version of KWT 2.0 and plugged in.

I launched the demo and asked the software to automatically detect the device. I got the message:

'The connected device seems to be a Kettler device. It cannot be identified however. Please check if software update is available.'

I get the same message after I apply the demo update from the page above.

Have uninstalled all software and started again with no luck.

When I look in system the USB to UART bridge is not showing, but appears as installed in the program list.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Did you buy a complete new racer s or a used racer S from a shop etc..

Can you look after your racer s device number S/N and post it here... it is down on the frame..

Please forget all the instructions from your Link!

The racer s can only be "wired" for KWT usage via a Bluetooth! You need a extra BT Stick like . https://www.wwsfitshop.de/produktliste/category/zubehoer/product/usb-bluetooth-dongle-wintech-bt-15-20-edr.html

Or a Belkin BT-stick as shown in the KWT Racer s sign in tutorial.

The USB-Port is only for charging your Smartphone with no KWT funktion


Work through this tutorial from the link above -> if you get no BT Connection you may need a racer s firmware upgrade or a display change of your racer s by the Kettler support (only an issue with "older" racer s).
use the Forum search.

And you need the Kettler USB Driver installed to your PC even the racer s is connected completely via BT.

You do not need the KWT Panel with your racer s and KWT. Shifting up works with the display/computer buttons of your racer s via BT too.

Thanks for getting back to me so promptly and I apologise for the fact that: mein Deutsch ist nicht sehr gut, it is a long time since I studied it, although I think I'm going to need a refresher to get the best out of the forum.

The Racer S is a new one from the shop, but of course I do not know how long it was in storage there.

After much crawling about on the garage floor I found the ID badge, which has the following numbers:

Din EN 957-1, 6

07988-700 which I think is the generic code for the racer
then
4-98437 X1701 0926

If these don't sound right I can send a picture of the badge in case I've misread it.

When I was having difficulty with the wired connection I did try for Bluetooth because my laptop has a Belkin bluetooth dongle and it did detect the S Racer. However it asked for a pairing code that I could not find in the literature, so at that point I gave up and decided to query the forum.

If the bike needs a firmware update I would be a bit worried about attempting this.

I will look at the tutorial.

Solution: A new display chipboard from the Kettler service.

Please wait for a answer here from the KWT admin "Wolfgang"
-> I am only KWT private user.

He will tell you what to do to get your racer s working with KWT. (change of display...)

So it looks as though, even though the bike was new from the shop last week it has an old chipset? That doesn't sound so good. I will wait for Wolfgang.

Hi,

the S-Series devices (Racer S) can only be connected via Bluetooth. The USB Port is only for charging your Smartphone.

Even if you have an old device you can use the KWT demo with it.

If you have an Bluetooth Connection you can test the Version with the FirmwareUpdate.exe from "C:\Program Files (x86)\KETTLER\WORLD TOURS 2.0 demo\"

It tells you the Software Version and if you can update it or not. If it says that you can't you should call the customer Service of KETTLER to get an new Display.

For the full Version of KWT also both Racer S Versions will work but the old Version Needs the cable control Panel shipped with the full Version. The new Version don't Need this extra cable.


The Problems on the Screens Looks like an Problem with the Bluetooth Adapter Driver. You should try to Change it to Microsoft Generic Bluetooth Adapter.

You can do this in the device Manager by searching for the current Bluetooth Adapter, right click on it and select "UPdate Driver Software"
Then select "Browse my Computer for Driver Software" and then "Let me pick from a list of device Drivers on my Computer"

Uncheck the "Show compatible Hardware" if the generic device is not listed.

Go to Manufacturer GenericAdapter and select the "Generic Bluetooth Adapter"

When I go through the 'update driver process' Ido not find the 'Generic Bluetooth Adapter' listed under the Manufacturer section. I have tried a different laptop and two other dongles that I have, but I still get a request for a pairing code when trying to select a device within KWT. This is after I have paired with the PC and indicated that no code is necessary.

I have sent to Germany for the BT dongle on the Kettler website in order to ensure that this isn't a factor, but that will take maybe two weeks to arrive. In the meantime I will try to pair with the update software to see if the bike needs a firmware update.

If Windows aks you for an Pairing code use 0000.

The Ergometer will accept every code but if you leave it blank it will fail.
